On Saturday, Nov. 25, Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground was delighted to host a special event, book signing, and open house saluting the new book, “THE HOUSE OF THE FUTURE: Walt Disney, MIT, and Monsanto’s Vision of Tomorrow” by David A. Bossert (Published by Old Mill Press). The event attracted over 100 book lovers who toured our House of the Retro Future Suite (an homage to Monsanto’s House of the Future) and enjoyed posing for pictures with Dave and having their books signed.
In attendance was Chris Nichols, senior editor at Los Angeles Magazine, who had penned a story on the event for their website and enjoyed his stay “in the future.”
Also in attendance was noted artist Sam Carter (seen here on the left posing with author Dave Bossert), who contributed his artistic talents to the creation of the suite, including a certain blue peacock that provides the visual focal point of the dining area.
Prior to visiting the suite and joining the book signing, guests were entertained by Hojo’s resident robot, Pepper, who helped give background on the hotel and the House of the Retro Future Suite.
The event was a great success and a fun and memorable experience for all attendees. We were delighted to host so many book lovers (the event was actually sold out). If you’re still seeking an autographed copy of the book, signed books can be purchased onsite in our Mid-Mod Market gift shop.
Once again, we thank Dave Bossert, Chris Nichols, Sam Carter, and all our friends and supporters for making the day so special.
